Clinical Supervision

Clinical Supervision for Emerging Social Workers in Illinois

I offer clinical supervision for social work clinicians in Illinois working toward independent licensure (LCSW). Supervision is not only a requirement for licensure. It’s also a space for deep professional growth, ethical reflection, and personal integration. My goal is to support you in becoming not just a competent clinician, but one who practices with presence, clarity, and a meaningful sense of purpose.

My Approach to Supervision

I bring over five years of experience supervising full-time clinicians and master’s-level interns in outpatient mental health settings. My supervision style is both developmental and relational, grounded in two key clinical traditions:

  • Third-wave behavioral therapies (DBT, ACT): Together we’ll build your fluency in evidence-based interventions that support emotion regulation, values-based living, and therapeutic flexibility.
  • Depth-oriented and psychodynamic perspectives: We’ll explore the symbolic and unconscious dimensions of clinical work—including transference, countertransference, narrative patterns, and the evolving inner life of the clinician.

Supervision with me integrates the practical and the reflective: we’ll cover case formulation, ethics, risk assessment, and intervention strategies, while also attending to your professional identity, use of self, and the deeper questions that arise in therapeutic work.

Licensure Requirements in Illinois (LCSW)

  • With an MSW, you must complete 3,000 hours of supervised clinical experience after graduation.
  • With a DSW/PhD, the requirement is 2,000 hours.
  • Hours must be gained through work that directly involves clinical social work as defined by the Clinical Social Work and Social Work Practice Act.
  • At least 4 hours per month must be spent in supervision with a qualified LCSW.
  • Hours may be completed full-time (30–40 hrs/week) or part-time (up to 29 hrs/week).

Ethical and Professional Foundations

We’ll establish a clear supervision contract and collaboratively track your progress toward licensure. Ethical reflection is integral to our work—supervision is a space where you can safely explore the tensions and uncertainties that arise in real-world practice.

Fees

  • Supervision is $100 per session (typically weekly).
  • Payment is accepted via credit or debit card.
